1) Never stretch a cold muscle

When preparing to play sport, it's important (and common sense) to warm up and stretch. It's also important that you don't stretch a cold muscle. Always warm up and THEN stretch. Stretching a cold muscle can lead to muscle tearing and possibly injury.
